Privacy Policy

In case of any discrepancy, the Arabic version of this Policy prevails (per Egyptian legal requirements).

ZENTOS Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 20 August 2026

1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

ZENTOS LLC ("ZENTOS", "we", "our") designs and operates connected home and energy devices, the ZENTOS mobile application, and the cloud services that connect them (together with our backend systems, the "Services"). ZENTOS is the Controller of the personal data described in this Policy.

This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") explains what personal data we collect, why we process it, how we protect it, and the rights you hold under the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 (the "PDPL") and its Executive Regulations issued by Decision of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology No. 816 of 2025 (the "Regulations").

This Policy forms part of your agreement with us and is incorporated by reference into the ZENTOS Terms of Use (the "Terms").

How your consent is collected. This Policy is a notice, not a consent form. When you create a ZENTOS account or place an order, you confirm your acceptance of the Terms and your consent to the processing described in this Policy by ticking the acceptance box presented to you. Processing that is optional, such as marketing, happens only with your separate consent (Sections 5 and 7). You may withdraw any consent at any time (Section 13).

2. Definitions

3. Data We Collect

3.1. Data You Provide

3.2. Data Collected Automatically

3.3. Presence Detection and Location

Presence features (such as away-mode) are off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off again at any time in the app.

While they are on, the app sends presence signals to our servers, where the home/away decision is made. Those signals are:

We do not store your coordinates. They are used only to work out the answer, in the moment the signal arrives, and are then discarded. What we keep against your account is the answer itself: whether you are home, which of your properties you are at, roughly how far away you are as one of three bands (at home, nearby, or far), the time it was recorded, and the Wi-Fi identifiers you have designated as home. We keep the latest values only. We do not build a location history, and we do not use any of it for advertising, profiling, or sale.

The home/away result is shared with the other members of your household, because that is what household presence is for. Your position is not, in any form.

If you turn presence features off, the app stops sending these signals. Deleting your account erases the stored values along with the rest of your data (Section 8).

These are the signals a customer account sends. A Zentos Pro technician account shares location on a different basis, and only while a job is running; Section 3.7 sets that out separately.

3.4. Data Minimization

We collect only the data each feature needs to work. No product in the current ZENTOS consumer range contains a camera or a microphone, so no ZENTOS device in your home records sound or images, and we hold no voice recordings captured by a device. Where you use a voice assistant to control a device, the assistant handles the speech on its own platform and sends us only the action to perform; no audio reaches us. The only photographs and video we hold are the ones a person deliberately takes or attaches in the app: the images you send to our support team, and the job records a technician submits under the Zentos Pro programme (Section 3.7). Section 3.8 lists the phone features the app asks for and what each one gives us.

3.5. Aggregated and Anonymized Data

We may irreversibly anonymize data, and use the anonymized, aggregated results for statistics, service improvement, and product development (see Section 6 for machine learning). Once anonymized, such data can no longer identify you and is no longer Personal Data under the PDPL.

3.6. Website Visitors

This section covers our website, as distinct from the app and the devices.

Browsing the site. Our website is delivered through a content delivery and security network acting as our Processor. It receives the internet address your browser connects from, along with the ordinary technical details of the request, and uses them to serve the pages, to block automated abuse, and to run the anti-robot check that protects our forms. We use the same details for the limits that stop one source flooding our forms. The basis for this is Section 5(a).

Approximate location. From that address we may derive an approximate location, at the level of a country or a region, so that an enquiry is answered in the right market and so that abuse coming from somewhere the enquiry does not fit can be spotted. It is an estimate drawn from the address alone. It is not satellite or handset positioning, and it is never combined with anything else to place you more precisely than a country or a region. This is separate from the app's presence features, which are described in Section 3.3 and are the only place we handle precise location.

What we record when you send a form. The pre-order, enquiry, brief, partner and installer forms record what you type into them and, beside it, the context of the request: the approximate location above, the type of device and browser you used, the page you sent it from, the page that referred you to us, the pages you looked at on our site during that visit, how long you spent before sending, and any campaign parameters carried in the link you arrived on. We keep the internet address and the moment as the record of the consent you gave, which the PDPL requires us to be able to prove. All of it is recorded only when you send a form, and only under the consent you give at that moment. We build no profile of a visitor who sends nothing.

Storage in your browser. Our website stores nothing on your device for advertising and does nothing that follows you to other websites. The trail of a single visit is kept in your browser alone, in storage the browser empties when you close the tab. If you begin a project brief, the answers you have typed are kept on your own device for up to seven days so you can pick it up where you left off: they stay on that device, they are deleted the moment the brief is sent, and you can throw them away in one tap from the panel that offers them back. One technical cookie is set by the platform that serves the pages; it carries the same value for every visitor who is not signed in and identifies nobody.

Counting visits. Where page and form counters are switched on, they count events and nothing else. They have no field that could hold a name, a number, an address or the query string of a page, so a count cannot be traced back to a person.

3.7. Zentos Pro (Technician) Accounts

This section applies only to the technicians who hold a Zentos Pro account and carry out installations. None of it applies to a customer account. To pay you, we also collect the payout destination you choose: a mobile wallet number, an InstaPay handle, or a bank account, IBAN or card number, together with the account holder and bank names. We use it only to send your earnings and we never collect our customers' card details, which are entered on the payment provider's own page.

Onboarding and job records. To join the programme, a technician photographs identity and qualification documents with the phone camera. During the first jobs of a technician's probation, the app also records a walkthrough video of the finished installation, up to ninety (90) seconds long. It is taken with the phone's own camera and it carries sound, because the technician narrates the work while filming it. This is the only place ZENTOS records audio: it is recorded deliberately, by the technician, at a moment the technician chooses, and never in the background. Its purpose is verification, so that our operations team can confirm the wiring, the connections and the state of the site before a technician leaves probation. On a job, the technician also takes photographs of the work before and after it. If a technician disputes a fault finding, they may attach photographs to the appeal for the independent reviewer to look at; that evidence is optional, and an appeal can be filed without it.

Because this material is recorded inside a customer's home, it is stored privately, is readable only by the technician who submitted it and the staff reviewing it, and is never published or used for marketing. Technicians are instructed to record the work and nothing beyond it. We keep it for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Policy, then anonymize or delete it (Section 10).

Location while a job is running. When a technician accepts a job and sets out, the app shares their position with our dispatch system continuously, about once every fifteen (15) seconds. We use it to assign jobs to the nearest available technician, to order nearby jobs into a sensible route, and to work out how far the technician still is from the customer and when they are likely to arrive. The sharing runs only during an accepted, active job and stops when the job ends. We keep the latest position only, replaced by the next update; we do not build a travel history. A technician may refuse the permission or switch it off, in which case the job proceeds as usual and only the live arrival estimate is lost.

Customer accounts are unaffected by anything in this section. A customer's location is handled solely as described in Section 3.3.

3.8. Phone Features the App Uses

Some parts of the app ask your phone for access to something outside ZENTOS. Each of these is optional, each is asked for at the moment you use the feature, and refusing one costs you that feature and nothing else.

4. Children and Household Members

The Services are not directed at children, and account holders must be at least 18 years old.

Connected devices sense the shared home environment. Telemetry such as motion events may therefore reflect the presence or activity of other household members and guests. As the account holder, you are responsible for informing the people who live in or visit your home that ZENTOS devices are in use.

We do not knowingly collect data relating specifically to an identified child. Where any Processing of a child's data arises, the PDPL requires the consent of the parent or legal guardian, and we will honor that requirement. Household members who are not account holders may exercise the rights in Section 13 by contacting our Data Protection Officer.

5. Why and On What Basis We Process Personal Data

We Process Personal Data only as follows:

We do not use your Personal Data for purposes incompatible with the above without obtaining your prior consent.

6. Automated Features and Machine Learning

Some Services use algorithms to manage settings automatically, for example optimizing energy consumption based on your usage patterns. Where an automated decision would produce legal effects or similarly significant effects for you, you have the right to object and request human review; you can do so in the app or by contacting the Data Protection Officer.

Where we train machine-learning models, we use anonymized and aggregated data, prepared so it cannot be traced back to you.

7. Marketing Communications

We send direct marketing (such as offers and product news) only with your prior consent. Every marketing message identifies ZENTOS as the sender and contains a working unsubscribe option; you can also opt out at any time in the app. Opting out never affects your use of the Services.

8. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your Personal Data. We share it only:

9. Security

We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest, one-way hashing of credentials, role-based access control, network segregation, logging and monitoring, and periodic security testing.

You also play a role: use a strong, unique password; secure your home Wi-Fi network; install updates when offered; and perform a factory reset before selling or transferring a device (see Terms, Section 14). No system can be guaranteed absolutely secure; the Terms describe how responsibility is allocated between us.

10. Data Retention

When you delete your account, we erase your Personal Data within 30 days, except where the law requires longer retention. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged in the normal backup rotation.

11. Data Breach Notification

If a breach affecting Personal Data occurs, we notify the Centre within seventy-two (72) hours of becoming aware of it, and we will notify affected users within three (3) working days thereafter, describing the nature of the breach, its potential consequences, and the corrective measures taken.

12. Where Your Data Is Processed

We process Personal Data on secure cloud infrastructure. Where Processing or storage takes place outside Egypt, we hold our providers to contractual safeguards. You can ask the Data Protection Officer where your data is hosted.

13. Your Rights

The PDPL grants you the right to:

  1. Know, access, and obtain a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you;
  2. Withdraw your prior consent at any time;
  3. Correct, update, or erase your Personal Data;
  4. Restrict Processing to a specified scope or purpose;
  5. Be informed of any breach affecting your Personal Data; and
  6. Object to Processing that conflicts with your fundamental rights and freedoms.

You can exercise these rights in the app or by contacting the Data Protection Officer (Section 14). We answer access requests within six (6) working days, and if we refuse one, we tell you why. You may lodge a complaint with the Centre at any time if you believe our Processing violates the PDPL.

14. Data Protection Officer and Contact

ZENTOS has appointed a Data Protection Officer to oversee this Policy:

15. Language

This Policy is issued in Arabic and English. In the event of any discrepancy, the Arabic version prevails.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notice at least fourteen (14) days before the change takes effect, and where a change expands the Processing of your Personal Data, we will ask for your fresh consent. The effective date at the top of this Policy identifies the current version; previous versions are available from the DPO on request.

End of Privacy Policy. See the ZENTOS Terms of Use for the contractual terms governing the Products and Services.
